the process
It is going to take time and a lot of effort to realise the vision that we have set for ourselves with this project. The recently acquired funds from the Scottish Climate Challenge Fund allow us to start this process by completing a feasibility study. This study will incorporate the following:
- consultation
- research
- design
These three elements of the study will happen concurrently and holistically with each strand informing the others.
The techniques that we will employ to deliver the feasibility will include:
- workshops
- street work
- digital media
- poster campaign
- public exhibitions
The proposed study will produce an in depth and comprehensive analysis into the feasibility of designing and constructing a new place of worship and community centre.
Once completed the study will have determined whether:
- there is a need and/or demand for the project
- the project can be conceived and delivered in a manner that is inherently sustainable
- the involvement of community members in it's design and construction is a viable method of delivering the project and determine the scope and level of their involvement
This study provides a unique and exciting opportunity to develop a building that is unprecedented in terms of it's design, it's performance and the method of it's delivery.
Once concluded the feasibility study should be able to demonstrate a route towards the completion of an exemplar building that sets a new benchmark for how we design and deliver architecture within and for the benefit of urban communities.
